‘25 Aston Martin Vanquish Is an 824-HP V12 Stunner with F1 Design Cues
Aston Martin is bringing the Vanquish back to its stable for its third generation, starting with the 2025 model year.
The 2025 Vanquish packs a 5.2-liter V12 under the hood that sends 824 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic.
Aston Martin says there will be fewer than 1,000 examples of these built a year and will start arriving before the end of 2024.
The Aston Martin Vanquish is back after a short hiatus, and it’s picking up where it left off. While there was a rear-mid-engine Vanquish Vision concept a few years ago, this third-gen Vanquish sticks with its front-engine layout that feeds only the rear axle. Like its predecessors, twelve pistons move under the hood.
That V12 displaces 5.2-liters and uses a pair of turbochargers to shove 824 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque through the rear-mounted eight-speed automatic transmission. Power then travels exclusively to the rear wheels.
This combination is good enough to rocket this Vanquish to 62 mph from a standing start in 3.3 seconds and can climb to 214 mph if you can find enough road. This V12 is technically nestled behind the front axle, which makes this Vanquish front-mid-engine.
Surrounding this V12 is predictably stylish sheetmetal. Well, sheetmetal in name only, as this Vanquish features carbon-fiber and composite panels draped around an aluminum structure.
Aston Martin stretched the nose of this Vanquish, likely to better accommodate the front-mid V12, and adapted some Formula 1 design language into the shell. The hood features thermos louvers to help pull the heat away from the V12. This machine is also wider than the DBS 770 Ultimate at the rear and features an 80-mm longer wheelbase.
Of course, the nose is unmistakably Aston Martin and carries the brand’s signature grille design. Matrix LED headlamps work with the grille and show off the brand’s new direction for its signature daytime running lights. A standard panoramic sunroof and LED taillight round out the styling’s broad strokes.
Underneath the bodywork is the aluminum structure, and the Vanquish team cranked up the lateral stiffness to improve the car’s handling. Aston Martin says it’s 75% stiffer than the DBS 770 Ultimate.
There’s also a new front under tray and a new front cross member that contribute to that increased stiffness, which Aston Martin says should help the steering feel. Stiffness is also increased between the rear strut towers, compared to the previous Aston flagship.
Hanging off of this structure is a set of double wishbone control arms in the front, with a multi-link suspension at the rear. A set of Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers help manage the 21-inch forged alloy wheels.
Wrapping these wheels is a set of Pirelli P Zero summer tires as standard equipment that span 275/35 in the front and 325/30 in the rear. For those trusting souls, Aston also offers a Pirelli winter tire. Both sets of tires come with the Pirelli Noise Canceling system’s foam inserts.
Inside the ’25 Aston Martin Vanquish you’ll find a blend of old-school luxury and modern necessity. The centerpiece is the 10.25-inch media touchscreen that’s fixed to the center stack, which is flanked by a 10.25-inch TFT digital driver display.
Working with these screens is an array of buttons and switches, and there’s no shortage of high-end leather trimmings and decorative carbon-fiber accents.
The touchscreen is a portal to Aston Martin’s multimedia system, which current DBX707, DB12, and Vantage owners should recognize. This system packs wireless Apple CarPlay if you want to rely on your mobile phone for navigation or media.
Regardless of where the sound comes from, it will go through the Bowers & Wilkins 15-speaker sound system. There’s also the Q by Aston Martin for Vanquish customers who want an off-menu approach to their new grand tourer.
There’s no word on the price. With the DBS 770 Ultimate’s $400,000+ price tag, it wouldn’t be a surprise for this new Vanquish to hedge close to half a million dollars. If you haven’t flinched, Aston says you can call and order one now, but deliveries won’t start until the fourth quarter of 2024.
