33,777 New Ram 1500s Recalled Due to Potential Stability-Control Issue
Thousands of 2025 Ram 1500 models are being recalled over possibly damaged front wheel bearing encoder rings.
The issue could disable the truck's electronic stability control, per documents filed with NHTSA.
The recall affects 33,777 trucks, and Ram will replace the front wheel bearing hub assembly if necessary.
The redesigned Ram 1500 is being recalled because its stability control might not work. Ram is recalling 33,777 half-ton Rams, all of which are from the 2025 model year, but the automaker estimates only one percent of the recalled population is affected. Those trucks were built between Oct. 13, 2023 and Aug. 11, 2024
The issue involves the trucks' front wheel bearing encoder rings, which may have been damaged during the handling process, according to documents Ram filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The report also states that the damaged encoder rings might cause the wheel-speed sensor to lose its signal, which could then disable the electronic stability-control system (ESC).
Without stability control, the risk of crashing obviously increases. That's why Ram is issuing a voluntary recall. The remedy is to inspect the front wheel bearing hub assembly and, if necessary, replace it. The automaker says it will reimburse customers who may have paid out of pocket to fix the problem before the recall was announced. Ram says it is beginning to notify dealers now, with owner notifications expected to begin around December 19.
