4 Arizona State wrestlers place at national championships

Arizona State will finish the 2023 NCAA Division I wrestling championships with 55 team points, which should put it in the Top 10.

Final team scores and standings will be released after the championship round. ASU does not have any wrestlers competing for a national title.

Brandon Courtney (125 pounds) took third. He won his first two rounds by decision, but fell in the quarterfinals to Princeton's Pat Glory. Courtney then came through the consolation bracket with four wins, including a sudden victory over Lock Haven's Anthony Noto, to finish the season with a 16-5 record.

Michael McGee (133) also placed third. He advanced to the championship semifinals before losing to Penn State's Roman Bravo-Young in sudden victory. In the consolation bracket, he claimed a pair of decisions to take third and finish the season with a 25-3 record.

Kyle Parco (149) also advanced to the semifinals before falling into the consolation bracket with a 14-2 loss to Ohio State's Sammy Sasso. He won a 4-3 decision in the consolation semifinals before dropping the third-place match to Penn State's Shayne Van Ness. Parco finishes the season 27-6.

Cohlton Schultz (285) took seventh. He reached the quarterfinals before losing in sudden victory to Tony Cassioppi of Iowa. Cael Valencia (174) failed to place after dropping his first two matches.

Penn State mathematically clinched its 10th national title before the championship round.
