After qualifying eighth on Saturday for the Dutch Grand Prix, Alex Albon's time was thrown out after it was discovered that the "floor body was found to lie outside the regulatory volume mentioned in Article 3.5.1 a)", per FIA F1 Technical Delegate Jo Bauer's report to the Stewards.

Albon and a team representative were called to the Stewards at 6:30 PM local time.

The Williams team presented their own measurements, which did fall within the volume mentioned in Article 3.5.1 a) but did not dispute the measurements presented by the FIA.

At 7:55 PM, it was announced that The Stewards would take the measurement conducted with the FIA system in Parc Ferme as the "relevant one" and a penalty would be applied.

Albon's eighth-place qualifying was the best effort made by either of Williams' drivers all year.

Per the Williams' report, Albon praised the updates made over the Summer break as to why he was able to outperform expectations in Saturday's qualifying.

"I'm really happy with P8 and that our upgrades have helped us secure this position," Alex said.

Albon's qualifying was seen as a high following the low of Logan Sargeant's FP3 crash and subsequent rebuild. The teammates will now start next to each other at the back of the field with Albon's disqualification and Sargeant's failure to record a time in qualifying.

The only other penalty to come out of qualifying was for Lewis Hamilton, who was found guilty of impeding Sergio Perez during Q1 and given a three-place grid penalty. Hamilton surprisingly did not advance out of Q2 to originally line up P12 on Sunday; he will now start P15 with his penalty.
