Amarillo City Council early voting begins for runoff
Starting Monday, June 12, the city of Amarillo begins early voting for its runoff election for City Council Places 1 and 4.
Running for election in Place 1 are candidates Dean Crump, a local businessman, and Josh Craft, a Randall County firefighter. Craft led the field in the May 6 Election among the seven candidates.
Local businesswoman Claudette Smith and former Amarillo Globe-News publisher Les Simpson are running for Place 4, where Simpson won 45% of the vote in the city election.
All voters must be registered to vote inside the city limits to participate in the election. There is no requirement to have voted in the previous election to be eligible to vote in the runoff election.
Early voting will go from June 12 to June 16 and June 20. No voting will be available on the weekend or on June 19 due to the Juneteenth holiday. The regular election day will be June 24.
