What's the Coolest Obscure Car You Can Buy?

There are cars out there that most people don't know about. Low production, often failed models that never saw triple digit production numbers. Most of these cars have faded from memory, but there are at least some enthusiasts out there that still give obscure cars the attention they deserve.

My personal favorite? Probably the Toyota Mega Cruiser. Produced from 1995 to 2002, it was a blatant rip-off of the Hummer H1, built by Toyota. Instead of a big V8 under the hood, it uses a 4.1-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder, sending power to all four wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.

The Mega Cruiser was designed mainly for military use, but was also sold in civilian spec exclusively for the Japanese market. This wasn't some cheap knockoff either. It uses independent double wishbone suspension all around, had a center differential lock, and even used four-wheel steering.

Of course, Mega Cruisers are near impossible to find for sale these days, and any decent example is worth well over $60,000. I'll probably never be able to afford a Mega Cruiser, but rest assured, my dream garage has a space for one.

But we'd like to know: What are your favorite obscure cars? The mysterious brands or models that have disappeared from public view, but still exist in the minds of the few owners and fans out there. Let us know in the comments below.
