An armed felon allegedly transporting drugs and paraphernalia consistent with selling ran from Arkansas State Police after getting pulled over. Time after time, people who have all kinds of evidence of serious crimes in their car risk it all by speeding. One would think if you’re breaking the law you would just drive the speed limit, but apparently that’s not how criminal minds work.
Watch police rescue a girl left behind in a stolen car that’s on fire.
This guy, who was in a Toyota Camry with Texas plates, was allegedly going 80 in a 55 mph zone when the trooper pulls him over in the dashcam video. At first he appears compliant, but as the trooper tries asking questions about where he’s coming from and what he’s doing, the guy starts verbally pushing back.
That’s when the trooper orders him out of the vehicle. We know a lot of people think a cop can’t tell you to get out of your car, and we’re not attorneys, but our understanding of the law is they absolutely can during a legal traffic stop like this.
Instead of complying, the guy revs the engine, struggling to get what he claims is a rental into drive. The gear selector on this generation of Camry isn’t rocket science, so this gives you an idea of the level of intelligence of our suspect.
He also thinks a little four-banger Camry can outrun a highly trained ASP trooper, another sign we’re not dealing with the sharpest tool in the shed. Sure enough, the chase is short-lived, the trooper easily chasing the Toyota down at around 135 mph before pitting it off the road.
What’s truly concerning about this footage is how cracked the cruiser’s windshield is. We’re pretty sure if we had one like that a cop would write us a ticket for it, so that seems a little hypocritical. Still, this trooper does a good job with a clearly delusional suspect.
