A man driving a Chevy Traverse down Interstate 530 in Little Rock, Arkansas was accused of engaging in armed road rage by another driver. The victim called police to report the suspect was waving a handgun out his window during the heated exchange, an obvious threat of violence. When Arkansas State Police went to speak with the suspect, it turned into yet another case of felony fleeing.
Watch a Subaru Outback try fleeing from Arkansas State Police.
Dashcam footage shows when a trooper who was sitting on the shoulder of the interstate in the area responds to the call. After seeing the Traverse speed past him, the trooper pulls the suspect over, who surprisingly complies.
Instead of just taking off once the trooper gets out of his cruiser, the guy at first speaks with him and pretends to comply. Then he suddenly takes off and the chase begins.
A three-row soccer mom grocery getter doesn’t exactly make for a great getaway car, especially against an Arkansas trooper. But the road rage suspect tries his best to make it work.
Perhaps realizing trying to outrun the cruiser on a straightaway won’t work, he winds through residential streets. But the thing is the Traverse doesn’t exactly corner like a sports car, so the trooper is able to gain ground.
As the chase goes into a more industrial area, the roads get rougher. It’s at this point the suspect sends the Chevy Traverse flying through the air as he blasts through an intersection, ignoring the stop sign. We never thought we’d see such a vehicle doing a Dukes of Hazzard impersonation.
This guy is desperate to get away, probably realizing he’s in real trouble at this point. He keeps flying through intersections, catching air again.
And then he just suddenly stops. When questioned after his arrest why he ran, he told ASP he thought he had warrants for his arrest. If you thought you had warrants for your arrest, why would you be waving a gun at another driver on the road? And why would running from police make that any better?
Make better life decisions, people.
