If you like classic and European sports cars, then you go to Monterey for Car Week in late August for events like The Quail, the Pebble Beach Concours, and the motorsports reunion.

Pebble Beach is an event where you have to put on a preposterous outfit to stand on a golf course and stare at a Delahaye that hasn't had its tires touch pavement in 40 years.

But if you like classic American cars, V8s, and a lot of tire smoke, you don't go to California. You go to Detroit for the Woodward Dream Cruise, an event that's the opposite of Car Week.

The Dream Cruise effectively transforms Woodward Avenue into a rolling muscle car showcase. It's a scene. People set up on the side of the road with tents, chairs, and coolers that are definitely only filled with La Croix and not beer to watch the cars that may or may not be street legal drive by.

Occasionally, the people driving those cars will decide that they need to do a little showboating. Since the road is totally straight and lined with pedestrians, there isn't really any drifting to be found. That showboating takes the form of burnouts, glorious, wonderful, smoky burnouts.

This year's Dream Cruise was no different, with everything from drag-special Camaros to Chevy Silverados frying tires on the street and miraculously not losing control.

While we don't have every single burnout from Woodward, we do have a lovely taste of what it was like this past weekend. Why not start your day with some tire shredding action?
