The drink’s ingredients are led by wild foraged chaga mushrooms, bringing immune support and non-jittery energy. Sugar-free, vegan, and keto-friendly, the drink is a clean, zero-calorie alternative to coffee. The Chagaccino also comes as a 10-packet box, and packets are ideal for use at the office or while traveling. Just mix one with your favorite coffee drink, tea, or smoothie when you’re in need of a shroom dose. “I’ve noticed a huge difference with coffee and gut discomfort after taking chaga for over a week! $59 $79 25% off
Named one of “Oprah’s Favorite Things“, this starter kit from Clevr is a great introduction to mushroom coffee. It includes two different mushroom latte blends (Clevr calls them SuperLattes), as well as a frother and a scooper to get the right portions.
Clevr’s SuperLattes come in a few varieties, tailor-made for certain moods. There’s a Matcha SuperLatte with reishi, lion’s mane, and ashwagandha for chill focus, a mushroom-infused Coffee SuperLatte for crash and jitter-free energy, as well as a Sleepytime SuperLatte with adaptogens and sleep herbs to help you rest easy. “Have been enjoying this drink before going to bed,” says reviewer Ana. “It tastes great and feels like a treat!” All of the products are very easy to make (just add water) and they taste great too.
3. MUD\WTR Mushroom Coffee Alternative
$40 $60 33% off
You may have seen ads for MUD\WTR on TikTok by now, but don’t swipe past too quickly: the California-based brand is making some of the best mushroom coffee alternatives around. Using a blend of lion’s mane, chaga, cordyceps, and reishi, MUD\WTR brings a comprehensive dose of the best mushrooms for improving mood, energy, and overall immune health. But the brand also counts Malala chai, cinnamon, turmeric, and Himalayan salt in its ingredients, meaning it really tastes great too.
MUD\WTR comes as a powder that can be added to teas and coffees, as well as food. The brand has dozens of recipe ideas on its website, including Mud pancakes, salads, smoothies, and teas. “I drink this every day,” writes one reviewer. “Coffee leaves me jittery, and prone to panic attacks. Mud Water is perfect for waking me up, and helping me focus, without the negative side effects of coffee.”
4. Four Sigmatic Mushroom Coffee
$12.90 $13.93 7% off
Four Sigmatic has generated quite a bit of buzz with its energy-boosting, mood-improving mushroom coffee. The brand’s concoction, which includes lion’s mane for focus and chaga for immune health, also tastes great (I.e. more like chocolate and not like blended mushrooms). This package of Four Sigmatic mushroom coffee includes 10 instant packs, which come in handy for transporting to work or keeping in your bag while traveling. Mix them with non-dairy milk, smoothies, or teas for a healthy, energy-boosting treat.
This is the best-tasting mushroom coffee that we’ve reviewed — it’s sweet without being syrupy, with just a touch of nuttiness and earthiness. And others agree: “The combination of Arabica instant coffee, Lion’s Mane mushroom, and Chaga mushroom creates a rich, earthy flavor profile. It’s like a cozy hug for your taste buds,” writes one reviewer.
5. VitaCup Shroom Fuel
$33
These individual packets of VitaCup’s coffee alternative make it easy to take your mushrooms on the go. The drink mix is like an instant coffee, only made with organic chaga and lion’s mane mushrooms, maca root, and a hint of cacao. The coffee replacement is sweet and earthy with subtle notes of chocolate and a touch of cinnamon (it honestly takes great). “Love this product! It tastes like a “good for you” hot cocoa! I drink it at nighttime instead of coffee,” says one reviewer.
We love this mushroom drink mix for the campsite, at the beach, or at the office when you need a quick pick-me-up without the huge rush of caffeine. You can get a 24-pack for $33 right now (though you can save more if you sign up for a subscription).

All mushrooms are sourced from a natural supplier in Canada, and the resulting powder has no fillers or chemicals. Customers also applaud Sacred 7 for its chocolate flavor, despite being 100% mushroom powder.
“I have been using this product for almost a year now and really see the positive results,” says reviewer Damian. “It dissolves very well in coffee, tastes good, and makes it taste almost like a mocha. And the health benefits are the best part. I have more energy and I’m more focused at work. Highly recommend!”
7. Rasa Original Mushroom Coffee
$28.80 $32 10% off
This mushroom coffee from Rasa includes ashwagandha, which many use as a supplement to reduce anxiety and improve brain function. The formula also features chaga and reishi to further improve mood and calm energy, and there’s no caffeine at all. This makes it a good choice if you’re quitting caffeine completely or doing a caffeine reset.
“I’m on my 2nd bag of Rasa coffee and will continue to be a faithful customer. I am not a regular coffee drinker, but on the occasion when I would treat myself to caffeine, it did not serve my body well,” says one reviewer on Amazon. “I like that this herbal “coffee” tastes great, can be served warm or cold, and still provides the same ritual of drinking a warm beverage to start the day…or finish the day.”
8. Pella Organic Mushroom Coffee
$19.99
This Pella mushroom coffee is another one that includes caffeine (80-100 milligrams a serving), meaning you’ll get an energy boost from caffeine as well as a boost from all the included adaptogenic mushrooms. Pella’s blend includes just about every popular mushroom, including lion’s mane, reishi, chaga, cordyceps, shiitake, maitake, and turkey tail. It’s a great introduction to mushroom coffee if you’re not ready to give up caffeine all the way: “I’ve wanted to try mushroom coffee for a long time now and finally did. This is good and I feel good about drinking it. Very convenient to keep at my desk for work,” says one first-time mushroom coffee drinker of Pella.
9. Wooden Spoon Herbs Adaptogenic Coffee Alternative
$24
As the name suggests this herbal coffee from Wooden Spoon Herbs introduces a whole array of healthy herbs to your morning. It includes reishi adaptogenic mushrooms, as well as prebiotic roots and seeds. Users say the formula is also especially creamy-textured and delicious, making it easy to switch to from coffee. One reviewer uses the tasty drink as a substitute when they want more coffee, but shouldn’t have more caffeine: “I limit myself to one cup of coffee per day, and this herbal coffee is perfect for when I’m craving a second cup. I’ve had one every afternoon since purchasing it. It’s insanely delicious and I look forward to it every day!”
10. Laird Superfood Organic Performance Mushroom Blend
$19.99 $21.95 9% off
This Laird Superfood Performance mushroom blend comes from Laird Hamilton, a pioneer big wave surfer and legendary overall waterman. His mushroom blend is very comprehensive, combining chaga, cordyceps, lion’s mane, and maitake for an energy boost, immune support, and mental sharpness. “Great value, love Laird Superfoods and their commitment to a quality product. I feel better and more focused, and it’s way easier to get through the day without the need to be over-caffeinated,” says one Amazon customer.
11. La Republica Organic Mushroom Coffee
$18.99
If you love great Arabica coffee but want to inject some mushroom fuel into your morning routine, check out La Republica’s mushroom coffee. The brand adds a hefty collection of our favorite adaptogenic mushrooms — lion’s Mane, reishi, chaga, cordyceps, shiitake, maitake, and turkey tail — to high-quality, organic fair-trade coffee that would be delicious on its own. Customers are overall very happy with the taste of this one. “I really like the taste. I’m on my second container. I’ve noticed a huge improvement in digestion and no bloating. I also feel more focused and alert faster than a cup of coffee would do for me,” says one reviewer.

What Is Mushroom Coffee? Mushroom Coffee Ingredients
The best mushroom coffees are careful blends of different mushroom extracts, and they sometimes include a splash of tea leaves or coffee beans. These mushrooms aren’t the kind you eat (or the trippy psilocybin kind), but rather medicinal mushrooms that have been used for thousands of years, in some cases, as natural health treatments. The best mushroom coffees also taste like coffee — not mushrooms — so there’s nothing to fear in terms of flavor.
Below are some of the most common mushroom coffee ingredients. Most purported health benefits are based on extensive anecdotal evidence, as well as cell and animal testing.
Lion’s Mane: Named after its shaggy appearance, lion’s mane has been used medicinally since ancient times. A number of studies strongly suggest that the fungus may strengthen our immune systems, reduce inflammation, and even alleviate anxiety and depression. Animal research has also shown that lion’s mane extract can kill cancer cells, help with diabetes, and reduce the risk of heart disease.
Chaga: Chaga mushroom, another fungus that’s been used by humans for centuries, may bring health benefits similar to lion’s mane including anti-inflammation and a boost to the immune system.
Reishi: Mainly found in Asia, Reishi mushroom usage can be traced back hundreds of years in Eastern medicine. Preliminary studies have shown that Reishi could increase energy while lessening depression and anxiety symptoms. It’s also used to control blood sugar and improve overall immune health.
Cordyceps: Although it’s a gross, parasitic fungus, cordyceps has some extremely promising potential health benefits — all backed by lab studies and animal research. It has been shown to boost exercise performance, sex drive, mental energy, and heart health, all while reducing signs of age.
Also, if you’re wondering whether mushroom coffee is legal, the answer is yes: mushroom coffee does not include psilocybin mushrooms (the psychedelic variety), so you can order it online from anywhere in the country.
Mushroom Coffee Benefits
We’ve gone over the possible health benefits of common ingredients in the best mushroom coffees, but what happens when you combine them?
The best mushroom coffees appear to lend clean energy, improve immune health, reduce stress, and lessen inflammation. Plus, because you’re consuming less caffeine by switching to mushroom coffee, you can expect better sleep and, again, even more energy during the day.
Plus, if you want the benefits of the best mushroom coffees but don’t want to give up that caffeine boost, you can have both. Most mushroom coffees come as powders, so you can add a scoop to your morning coffee and reap the health benefits of mushrooms with your normal java.
How We Chose The Best Mushroom Coffees
I started the hunt for the best mushroom coffees by scouring social media pages for reviews, reading other roundups and publisher reviews, and looking over some of Amazon’s top product listings. I also spoke to a couple health-nut friends who have tried mushroom coffee to see what they like. Because mushroom coffee is a relatively new trend, it’s easy to stumble upon shoddy brands, so I made sure to do some extra background checking on every label I was considering to make sure they were legit.
After finding some of the best mushroom coffee brands, I taste-tested some of the most well-known. When testing a mushroom coffee, I would drink only that product for a week, and avoid other caffeine drinks during the testing period to make sure any extra energy was coming from the mushroom coffee. Generally, all the mushroom coffees I sampled tasted just fine. A couple stood out, but overall you (thankfully) don’t have to expect any bad flavors — even if you don’t like eating mushrooms. I also had my roommates sample brands as well to get some in-person feedback.
After sampling some brands, I dug through reviews from experts and customers. I mainly looked for reviews on energy level increase and effects, but also paid attention to feedback on flavor. The resulting finalists you see above are all available at trusted online retailers (either Amazon or the brand’s website) and feature an average customer rating of at least 3.7/5 stars.
