Cadillac's CT6 flagship revealed in Oscars ad, sort of

If you stepped away from the TV during last night's Academy Awards and thought "Hey, how strange that they're doing a long bit about 'Inception' this year," you may have missed the reveal of Cadillac's newest flagship. To launch its new "Dare Greatly" tagline, Cadillac bought many minutes of ad space, much of it set to Edith Piaf's "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien," featuring various innovative people shot in darkly innovative fashion, like Steve Wozniak and the guy who directed "Bernie."

And then, at the end, was a blurry shot of an unlabeled white sedan which we know to be the CT6 — Cadillac's latest effort to take on German luxury head-on, with a car just a little smaller and more nimble than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class/BMW 7-Series/Audi A8 axis. Inasmuch as we could see, Cadillac has blended cues from the Elmiraj concept with its current, more angular look. It's the second time in a month that an automaker has chosen to tease a new model in big-event advertising, although Nissan's glimpse of the new Maxima during the Super Bowl was a blink-and-you-missed-it moment for most. We're expecting to see the CT6 without having our vision blurred on March 31, the start of the New York Auto Show.
