Sliding a classic Porsche 356 in the snow, because you can

It's easy to understand why owners of classic cars choose to keep them safely locked and out of harms way, just as one might wish they could do with their teenage daughter. Owners say they're too precious; too fragile to risk in the open wilderness. But not Jeff Zwart. By adding four studded snow tires, he punishes his classic Porsche 356 daily: in snow; in rain; on gravel.

And that's precisely how Porsche intended its first ever production car to be driven -- the prelude to the iconic 911. As you can see in the video below, never has a 356 seemed more at home.

Zwart, a rally driver and Pikes Peak specialist, bought the 1953 Pre-A coupe in southern California for a film he was shooting to introduce the first Porsche Cayenne. He had every intention of selling the car after he was done, but Zwart fell in love. Ten years on, the 356 is still doing what it does best.
