BMW Driven Through Showroom Window In Another Brazen Heist

Along with an increase in car thefts, we’ve noticed a worrying trend where thieves have become far more brazen than even just a little while ago. One of the latest developments in this wave comes out of S. Clair Shores, Michigan where one thief drove a BMW through the window of a luxury car dealership’s showroom.
A road rage fight in Canada might be more than it seems.
It almost looks like a scene out of a 90s action movie. One of the thieves just drove a BMW M6 right through the window of the dealership. We’re sure it was great fun for the little scofflaw, but usually thieves open the doors so they don’t damage the cars they’re stealing, although that’s not always the case.
You can see other thieves in the surveillance footage getting ready to swipe more high-end cars from the showroom, although they ended up only taking the one. They originally broke in by using a stolen Jeep swiped from another dealership as a battering ram, busting through the business’ garage door.
This, according to WXYZ, is one of the latest in a string of dealership heists in the area. We see these types of trends in different parts of the country, almost like theft rings hit one region, then move on to the next.
The owner of Envy Auto Group, where the Bimmer was driven through the showroom window, told WXYZ he and his staff “feel violated and unsafe in our own backyard.” We can’t imagine what it’s like to toil away building a business only to have someone come in and not only steal but vandalize your place like that.
For better or worse, the M6 was recovered later, but as you might imagine it suffered serious damage from the stunt.
We’re not psychologists, but it seems to us the type of people who would steal from car dealerships in the middle of the night don’t face consequences, the more brazen and reckless they become. Perhaps they start believing they’re untouchable.
