$30,900 - $38,800

BMW's first entry into America's compact luxury crossover segment is a formidable one. Styled in the same X3 vein, it's sporty enough to appeal to the the male demographic, but still cute enough for the ladies. Male or female, buyers will enjoy its smallish dimensions and potent powertrains. Go with the base rear-wheel drive sDrive28i to get a 240-horse 2.0-liter turbo engine and 8-speed automatic. There's 17-inch wheels, leatherette, halogen lights, matte black roof rails, and chrome tailpipes. Add on the Sport Line, X Line, M Sport Line, or Ultimate packages for all of the brand's current tech like 18- or 19-inch wheels, a sport suspension, adaptive xenon headlamps, and black leatherette, among many others. All-wheel drive fans can get an X1 with either the aforementioned four-cylinder or 300-horsepower 3.0-liter turbo inline-6 cylinder. Of course, more features are stuffed into the xDrive35i's package; items like auto highbeams, rearview camera, Harmon Kardon surround sound, panorama roof, and Hill Descent Control can be had.
