Buy This Six-Wheeled Porsche 944 Pickup That You'll Probably Have A Love/Hate Relationship With
Sometimes we come across custom cars that you hate to look at, but that also draw you in at the same time. I’m talking ridiculous stuff that’ll make you have confusing feelings of disgust and delight. If you have deep enough pockets, I’ve come across the exact kind of vehicle that’ll draw out those kinds of feelings: a custom six-wheeled Porsche 944 pickup truck.
Kickdown, a German auction site for classic cars, currently has this unique listing online. The Porsche 944 isa car beloved by many, but this example got turned into a pickup truck with an additional axle for reasons unknown. While the main part of the pickup started life as a 1987 944, looking at the description you’ll see a couple other cars donated parts so this 944 could become a ute.
All of the axles came from an Audi 200 (we know it as the 5000 here in North America), while the headlights came from the rare 924 Carrera GT. Powering this thing is a 3.0-liter engine taken from a 968.
Everything else is custom. From the targa roof to the pickup bed made of oak, the description says this pickup was built over a period of 26 years with over 2,500 man hours put into it. It seems it was actually used over those years as well, as there’s nearly 10,000 miles on it. According to the listing there are no issues with it, either.
The main problem with this Porsche, though, is the price. Whenever a custom car underwent a labor intensive build, the seller is going to ask for big money. This 944 pickup is no different. When it goes to auction, the starting bid will 99,990 Euros, or just over $111,000 at current exchange rates. A high price for sure, but this also probably one of if not the most unique Porsche 944 on the planet.
