Chevy Camaros have become big theft targets in the past few months, especially in places like Los Angeles. But the pursuit of one of these hot Camaros ended in a most dramatic fashion at Dodger Stadium.

Camaro thefts in Los Angeles have risen over 1,000%.

According to OnScene TV, Baldwin Park and Central California Highway Patrol were in hot pursuit of four suspects in the black Camaro around 4 am on July 24. The suspect driver led police on a high-speed chase on multiple freeways and surface streets before gate crashing at Dodger Stadium.

You can see the front end damage on the muscle car, which came from it driving right through a stadium security gate. Once in the secured area outside the baseball stadium, the four suspects reportedly bailed from the Chevy and tried hiding among the bushes in the hills beyond the parking lot.

Two of those suspects were arrested right away, but we don’t know about the other two.

We’ve covered before how some Camaro owners allege the key fobs for their cars aren’t secure. Considering how easily they’re stolen, we think there has to be some big security flaw on the muscle cars that theft rings have zeroed in on lately.

There are ways to stop thieves from taking your Camaro, if you’re concerned. We don’t want to get into too many details, but shops that specialize in installing aftermarket security devices can explain how certain products will stop common attacks like key fob cloning, spoofing, ignition reprogramming, etc.

One might as why automakers don’t beef up security in cars like the Camaro. Well, the Camaro is dead, but it’s a good question to ask anyway. We’re guessing there isn’t enough of a public outcry to force them to address the issue.
