Sometimes the trash takes itself out, or rather car thieves put themselves where they belong. A Chevy Camaro thief who was running from police in Oklahoma City ended up hiding in a trash can after wrecking out big time, leaving the muscle car a mangled mess.

Police still found the guy, who was the passenger in the Camaro, and arrested him, the whole thing caught on bodycam. We’ve seen car thieves and other criminals hide from cops in trash cans, dumpsters, etc. before like they think nobody will ever look for them there.

It’s kind of like when a little kid throws a blanket over their head and thinks the adults can’t see them. Only these kids look like they’re teenagers and should be smarter than this. Maybe that’s why they’re out stealing cars?

The driver was trapped in the Camaro and had to be extricated after it rolled several times through a few front yards in a neighborhood. Luckily, no innocent bystanders were hurt in the collision, perhaps because it happened at night when a lot of people were in bed, not out and about.

While many other things seem to be taking center stage in the news lately, car thefts continue to hit regular people close to home. Not only is the owner of the Camaro out their vehicle, some homeowners have repairs to make to their front yards.

This situation easily could’ve been life altering for some innocent people, too. Thankfully it didn’t go there.

We don’t know how the Camaro was initially stolen, but as thieves become more brazen we see an increase in armed carjackings. Those can traumatize victims and sometimes lead to deadly consequences. It’s just a vicious cycle we’d love to see going down, not increasing or holding steady.
