Small crossovers are now a critical play for any automaker's portfolio, which brings us to the Chevrolet Equinox. Customers looking for some space can turn to the standard MultiFlex 60/40 split-folding backseat capable of sliding forwards and backwards up to eight inches. That helps increase the rear occupants' legroom or cargo volume depending on needs. All LS, LT, and LTZ Equinoxes come equipped with six airbags and start out with a 182-horsepower, E85-flex-fuel-ready 2.4-liter I-4 and front-wheel drive. The engine upgrade comes in the form of a 301-hp 3.6-liter V-6 (also E85-ready) on LT and LTZ models. All-wheel drive can be ordered with either engine. A new FE2 "Ride and Handling" suspension package is available at the very top of the Equinox food chart, specifically for those with V-6-powered LTZs with 18- or 19-inch chrome-clad wheels. And if you absolutely must tow something, the I-4 will handle 1500 pounds and the V-6 tackles 3500 lbs. Inside, four 12-volt power outlets offer plenty of electronic charging opportunities. Tech features abound in the Equinox: second-row DVD entertainment system, a safety package with parking assist, forward collision alert, and lane-departure warning system, back-up camera, and Chevrolet MyLink with navigation can all be added. Overall Rating
Pros Cons
32 mpg at 65 mph on interstate Dangerous to drive-too many blind spots
Back up device that help prevent accidents Lumbar support - never enough. designed by someone with no back problems
Able to move 2nd row seats back for more leg room Lower mileage around town than expected
Interior seats stitching is red & awesome Difficult to park - hard to judge - never had this problem with other cars
Ease of entering- exiting the vehicle Gear changing is harsh while trying to speed up on highway
Awd - important where i live and when carrying grandkids around. Air conditioner - too loud even on lowest setting
Love the amount of room in driver & front passenger seats Front wind deflector too low - hits curbs when parking.
Acceleration from the v-6 engine 4 cylinder not big enough - whines when shifting gears
Handling & safely - handles well in poor weather & very smooth ride Rear camera - placed in bad place, gets dirty easily & is distorted
Very comfortable passenger seat: able to sleep Rear seats don't fold completely flat
