The oldest automotive nameplate in existence will be riding the pine soon. But until the next-generation Chevrolet Suburban arrives, the existing model is everything a full-size SUV buyer can hope for. There's plenty of space for people (up to nine passengers) and cargo (45.8 cubic feet behind the third row; 137.4 cu. ft. with backseats folded). The half-ton Suburban 1500 is powered by a 320-horsepower, E85-flex-fuel-capable 5.3-liter V-8 with 335 pound-feet of torque and a six-speed automatic transmission. Rear- and four-wheel drive are the driveline choices. Properly equipped, it'll handle up to 8100 pounds of trailer weight. The heavy-duty three-quarter SUV has a 352-hp 6.0-liter V-8, also E85-compatible. With more torque (382 lb-ft), the Suburban 2500 is rated for up to 9600 pounds of towing capacity. The Suburban 1500 is divided into LS, LT, and LTZ models; the 2500 goes with just LS and LT. A Z71 Off Road Appearance Package for LT models brings monotube shock absorbers, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, various dress-up pieces, and more. The cabin can get quite nice. Power-adjustable pedals, Bluetooth, leather seats, dual-zone climate control, a DVD backseat entertainment system, back-up camera, and Side Blind Zone Alert can all be found on the order form.
