An epic drag race pits the C4 Corvette against the Dodge Viper RT/10, showcasing both cars' iconic American muscle heritage.

In an exciting drag race video, two of America’s most iconic sports cars—both known for their performance heritage—go head-to-head in a thrilling quarter-mile showdown. The contenders? A C4 Corvette, representing Chevrolet’s mid-1980s muscle, and a first-generation Dodge Viper RT/10, often hailed as the ultimate “Corvette killer” of the 1990s.

The C4 Corvette, which starred in the video from TFLclassics, comes equipped with the L98 5.7-liter V8 engine, producing 245 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. While modern cars easily eclipse those numbers, the C4 was a serious contender in its heyday, blending style and performance for enthusiasts of the era.

Its opponent, the Dodge Viper RT/10, is an uncompromising beast designed for raw power and speed. Under the hood of the Viper lies an 8.0-liter V10 engine, pushing out 400 horsepower and cementing its place in automotive history as a true performance icon. With its focus on brute force and aggressive styling, the Viper was built to outperform the likes of the Corvette, and this race puts that reputation to the test.

At the start of the race, the Viper’s monstrous V10 power immediately gives it the advantage, surging ahead with authority. It crosses the quarter-mile finish line in 14.9 seconds, reaching speeds just over 100 mph. However, the C4 Corvette isn’t left too far behind, finishing the race in a respectable 15.8 seconds at 91 mph—impressive for a car nearly six years older and down almost 200 horsepower.

While the Viper proves it’s the quicker machine in this matchup, the C4 Corvette showcases its resilience, keeping pace admirably despite its age and horsepower disadvantage. This drag race not only highlights the performance differences between the two cars but also pays homage to two legendary American sports cars that continue to capture the imagination of car enthusiasts.
