College Football | Mount Union to open Division III playoffs at home against Washington & Lee

MARIETTA — The last time Mount Union won a Division III national championship, in 2017, the Purple Raiders opened the postseason with a victory over Washington & Lee.

Certainly, Mount Union fans hope that is an omen, as the Purple Raiders will again play host to the Generals at noon Saturday in the first round of the playoffs at Mount Union Stadium.

Tickets: Hometown Ticketing or cash only at the gate ($8)

Washington & Lee, located in Lexington, Va., finished 8-2 this season and won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, sharing the title with Randolph-Macon (Va.).

The Generals' losses were to Christopher Newport (Va.), 28-24 in the season opener, and 14-6 at Shenandoah (Va.) on Saturday.

"I believe it's a different head coach and maybe some different coordinators, but they're a good team," said Dartt of Washington & Lee.

"We just got the tape. We have to break it down and we have a lot of planning to do."
