Colorado Police Are Hunting For Road Rage Shooting Suspect

Police in Loveland, Colorado are on the hunt for 45-year-old Justin Winter Vanpelt, who allegedly shot at two different vehicles in two different locations in apparent road rage incidents. He’s considered armed and dangerous, which should be obvious, so police are asking anyone who might spot the suspect or his female passenger to call 911 instead of confronting them.

Watch a road rage fight end with an elderly woman knocked out.

The two incidents happened within minutes of each other shortly after noon on July 21. However, not too long before the first alleged shooting, a Loveland officer spotted the suspect vehicle sitting in a parking lot.

That vehicle is an older silver Toyota Sequoia, like the one pictured. What caught the officer’s eye was the lack of a license plate or temporary registration. As the officer noticed the SUV entered a public road, he tried pulling it over but the driver, believed to be Vanpelt, took off.

However, the suspects stopped at a red light, allowing the cop to catch back up. Seeing that, the suspect driver ran the red light, almost hitting another car in the cross traffic. Instead of pursuing, the officer decided not to in the interest of public safety.

That’s a little ironic since just minutes later a female driver called 911 to report that at another intersection she had been shot at by a man driving a Toyota Sequoia. Her description matched the suspects and vehicle the police officer had spotted.

Then just minutes later, another driver who was on Interstate 25 reported the same suspect in the same vehicle shot at the Jeep Wrangler the driver and a passenger were inside.

Vanpelt is facing several felony charges. The only problem is police are having a hard time finding the guy. Anyone who knows where he might be, and remember he has those tattooed eyebrows so he’d be easy to spot, is encourage to call the Loveland Police Department Tip Line at 970-962-2032 or Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.

And remember, even if you think someone on the road has done something stupid, that never gives you the right to shoot at them or engage in any other violent act. This road rage trend needs to end.
