If you think the regular Jaugar F-Type is just too plain, well, you're in luck. An ultra-rare, limited-production Project 7 F-Type just popped up for sale. Compared to a regular F-Type convertible, it has more horsepower, bigger brakes, better suspension, and a speed hump behind the driver's seat paying tribute to the company's D-Type race car. You should buy it.

Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.

This is the first production-spec F-Type Project 7 we've seen pop up for sale in the US. Like many examples, it's painted in a dark blueish green, accented with a stripe across the nose, white lipstick trim around the grille, plus big white dots on both doors, as well as the rear decklid. All Project 7s come with an extended splitter, a carbon-fiber wing, and huge carbon-ceramic brakes. Thrust comes from a 575-horsepower version of Jaguar's supercharged 5.0-liter V8, sending torque to just the rear wheels via a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

Unlike the Project 7 concept, production cars got two seats instead of just one, and a real cloth convertible top. It has all the amenities of a normal F-Type-it's just a lot cooler. This particular car has just 158 miles on the odometer, which means it's practically brand new, too.

The sellers at Top Gear Imports in New Jersey claim this Project 7 is one of about 40 examples that made it to the US out of 250 produced in total. Considering the low miles, rarity, and cool factor, the $249,888 asking price starts to make sense. It starts to make a little less sense once you compare that number to a V8 F-Type convertible, though. Even a new F-Type SVR convertible costs half as much as this car, and has the same power output. But if you really want to stand out, this is the F-Type to do it in.
