Couple In Lamborghini Targeted By Kidnappers

A husband and wife were targeted by kidnappers because they were driving a Lamborghini in a gated Connecticut neighborhood. They were supposed to be meeting their real estate agent at a house listed for sale when six men in a cargo van sprung a clever trap.
Even in paradise you have to watch for carjackings.
We’ve warned about bump-and-run carjackings before where thieves will bump into the back of your car, then when you get out one of them will jump in and drive off in it. This kidnapping was similar with the cargo van purposely bumping into the Lamborghini the couple was in, then beating both with a baseball bat.
Once subdued, the couple was forced into the back of the cargo van and bound with duct tape. That’s the kind of experience nobody wants to have.
In the meantime, one of the suspects got in the Lamborghini and drove off with it.
Thankfully, someone witnessed the attack and followed the van. Perhaps the suspects realized that, because surveillance footage shows the van driving recklessly on a two-lane road, at one point almost hitting a car going the opposite direction head-on.
Eventually, the suspect driver lost control and crashed. That’s when the six men all ran away, perhaps sensing their plan was spoiled.
Police were able to locate the stolen Lamborghini and all six suspects. Four were hiding in the area of the van crash and the other two were at a short-term rental home not too far away.
What’s really scary is police believe there’s no connection between the victims and their kidnappers. In other words, they likely chose the couple simply because they were driving a nice car and decided to do the bump-and-run method. And what they were going to do with the couple also wasn’t clear.
It really makes you think twice about getting out of your vehicle if you’re in a minor fender bender, especially if it seems like the other driver intentionally crashed into you.
