The new BMW M4 CS won't arrive in the US until next year, but based on early reviews from Europe, it sounds like we have a lot to look forward to. Autocar got its hands on a German-spec CS in the UK, and they were impressed. In fact, they called it the choice of the M4 range.

That's not entirely surprising, since the M4 CS essentially splits the difference between the Competition Package and the crazy, limited-production GTS. The suspension setup on the CS is almost identical to that of the Competition Package, but the adjustable dampers are tuned to offer more on-track performance. The CS also gets carbon fiber aerodynamic pieces, lightweight interior trim from the GTS, and a standard dual-clutch gearbox.

Where the CS and the Competition Package differ most significantly are in wheels and tires. The CS gets gorgeous 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels wrapped in sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. That plus the damper tuning makes all the difference on twisty roads.

Autocar's Dan Prosser finds that the CS isn't quite as good a daily driver as the M4 Competition Package because of its relatively stripped-out interior. But otherwise, it's just about perfect.

We can't wait to find out for ourselves.
