A compact sedan has finally returned to the Dodge lineup. After cribbing its model name from an old family car and borrowing its platform architecture from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, the Dart launches with six trims. The starter model is the SE. You then cycle up to the SXT, Rallye, Limited, Aero, and R/T models. The Dart R/T is the only one fitted with a 184-horsepower 2.4-liter I-4; the others except for the Aero begin with a 160-hp 2.0-liter I-4. The optional engine for SXT through Limited and standard on the Aero is the 160-hp 1.4-liter turbocharged I-4, which also has more torque and promises better fuel economy. The turbo engine seems to work, since the Dart Aero is the only trim that breaches the 40-mpg mark (41, to be exact) on the highway. The Dart incorporates over 60 safety and security features and it was decreed from the beginning of development that the cabin would go as upscale as possible. The level of interior customization is intense for a C-segment vehicle. Perhaps most impressive of all are the available colorful displays: a seven-inch TFT LED gauge cluster display for the driver and an 8.4-inch touch-screen display for the center stack. See more...
