Yahoo Autos Don't Worry, People Still Drive Their Classic Porsches
Putting over 250,000 miles into a Porsche 356 is respectable, but hardly something we haven't seen before. Ferdinand Porsche built these perfected Beetles in such a way that by all these years, some people put over a million miles in them.
Today, people stop driving classic Porsches because they are going up in value faster than vintage Rolexes. The very same audience will also buy a brand new 911R, only to sell it three months later with just delivery miles for a healthy profit. And that's fine, I guess, except for making cool cars even more expensive.
Luckily, not all 356s come with matching numbers. In fact, some of them are barely more than rusted out junks, ready for whatever the world can throw at them after all these decades. Matt Hummel's is such an example, and so is Mark Pribanic's. He bought his 18 years ago, only to paint it three times, go through four engines, two gearboxes and all the air-cooled fun 250,000 miles can offer.
