The e:Ny1 Is a New Honda Crossover for Europe
Honda launched a new all-electric crossover for European markets on Friday called the e:Ny1. It's the company's second production EV for the region, following the adorable Honda E compact.
Aimed at Europe's growing demand for B-segment SUVs, the e:Ny1 is based on Honda's new e:N Architecture F, an electric platform that puts power to the front wheels. The company says it focused on body structure, a low center of gravity, and underbody dynamics to improve the driving experience and increase range.
The e:Ny1's powertrain is a lightweight three-in-one electric motor, drive unit, and gearbox mounted up front. It generates a maximum of 201 hp and 228 lb-ft of torque thanks to a 68.8-kWh battery pack. Range on Europe's WLTP cycle is estimated at 256 miles. The e:Ny1 also has DC fast-charging capabilities that allow it to go from 10- to 80-percent charged in just 45 minutes.
“The e:Ny1 is the logical next step on our electrification journey in Europe,” Honda Europe Senior Vice President Tom Gardner said in a statement. “Our development philosophy blends intelligent, customer-centric technology with beautiful design and fun-to-drive dynamics."
