Every Civic Type R Deserves These Rad White Wheels
While you wouldn't call it pretty, the new Honda Civic Type R certainly looks striking. There was something missing, though - the white wheels that graced so many Type Rs before it. Thankfully, Honda has fixed that, at least for the Japanese market.
As Top Gear reports, Honda just rolled out a new line of accessories for the Civic Type R that include a set of alloy wheels painted in Championship White. Honda's new accessories for the Type R also include a carbon-fiber rear spoiler, carbon interior trim, navigation systems, and a decorative red strip for the front fascia.
But let's focus on the wheels, and why they're so great. In design, they actually look similar to the white 10-spoke units that were available on the beloved DC2 Integra Type R, but Honda says each spoke is shaped to look like a sword.
White wheels date back to Honda's first Type R, though - the legendary 1992 NSX-R. And of course, the classic Type R color scheme of Championship White with red accents references Honda's 1960s cars, notably the 1965 RA272, the first Japanese car to ever win a grand prix.
So, these white wheels are steeped in Honda folklore and they look great. There are two problems, however. They cost around $2450 USD (¥270,000), and there's no word on whether they'll come to the US. I think they should come standard on the Type R, and anyone who disagrees with me is wrong.
