Ferrari Purosangue, Lamborghini Urus Among 60 Cars Seized for 'Anti-Social Driving'

Police in central London have seized more than 60 supercars and other high-end vehicles with a combined value of an estimated $7.7 million over the past few weeks, according to the City of Westminster. The seizure includes the likes of vehicles made by Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, McLaren and Bentley, among other makes. Five arrests have also been made for a variety of different automotive-related offenses, according to the local government.

The operation, which began on August 2 and ran until August 11, came after a number of Westminster residents complained about the sports cars. Specifically, locals said that many of these drivers were using their neighborhood as a makeshift race track, driving at unsafe speeds and creating noise pollution in the area. London's Metropolitan Police worked alongside members of the Westminster City Council and the Motor Insurance Bureau to execute the large-scale operation and bring in the vehicles.

“This hugely successful operation has proved we are dealing with those crimes, such as anti-social driving, that is causing most distress to residents and tourists,” Metropolitan Police special inspector Geoff Tatman said. “This brilliant partnership work between the Met’s Vehicle Enforcement Team, Motor Insurance Bureau and Westminster City Council demonstrates to Londoners we are doubling down on crime on the roads.”

The arrests were made for offenses including insurance fraud, driving without a seat belt, driving without due care, and using a cell phone behind the wheel.

“The noise and dangerous driving from these boy racers is often worse during the summer, so I welcome these results from the enforcement work,” said Westminster City Council cabinet member Paul Dimoldenberg. “This underlines the council’s zero tolerance approach to anti-social driving.”

Some of the vehicles in the seizure include a V-12-powered Ferrari Purosangue SUV, as well as a range-topping Lamborghini Urus Performante. Police also shared images of a pair of Rolls-Royces, as well as a Range Rover Evoque. In summation: if you happen to own a high-end vehicle in the U.K., consider taking it easy through Westminster from here on out.
