Despite its diminutive size, the Fiat 500 boasts a surprisingly large number of variations. The basic 500, powered by a 101-horsepower, 1.4-liter I-4, is served to the buying public as hatchbacks in Pop, Sport, and Lounge trims (festive interior included). A five-speed manual or six-speed automatic are the transmissions. Then there are the cabriolet versions designated the 500C. The drop-top Fiats suffer from prominent outward visibility issues (since the roof rails are fixed and only a small portion of the soft top folds down) and those are sold as Pop or Lounge models. Then we have the 500T, a midrange model with a 135-hp, turbocharged 1.4-liter I-4. The only transmission is a five-speed manual. Next, there's the completely angry, 160-hp 500 Abarth. This is the high-performance 500 and it sounds the part thanks to a snarling exhaust. The suspension is also dialed in more aggressively and the appropriate Abarth scorpion badges are sprinkled liberally throughout the car. There's a 500 Abarth Cabriolet too. And then we come across 500E, a fully electric 500 estimated to offer more than 80 miles of driving range. Last but not least, the upcoming 500L is a bloated 500 with room for five people. Reviews and Ratings
Overall
Pros Cons
Cool convertible top & good gas mileage Stereo: i had to spend over $1,000 on new car for better sound
Overall styling and details 3 cup holders but you cannot put three cups in at same time.
Car accelerates exceptionally for a 4-cylinder engine Access to oil filter: something should be done in future models
Responsiveness of drive train - this car is a lot of fun. Emergency brake is not holding.
Handles extremely well for a tiny engine Wind shield wipers: they seems to have a mind of their own.
Electronics - surprisingly it has many electronic features Front seat design isn't up to the high standard throughout
Amount of interior room is suprisingly large Drivers seat memory. i don't like having to reset
Extremely comfortable front seats / steering wheel Slow to accelerate from full stop
Smooth ride for such a compact vehicle I need to bend down to see traffic lights
Styling - interior & exterior - unbeatable for this price range Storage space -not suitable for transporting large objects or many goods
