Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino has been around since 1899, but only became relevant to the American market in 2011, when they took majority stake in Chrysler's ownership. The iconic original Fiat 500, a small rear-engine hatchback that was small on power, but huge in charm, has long been a staple of the European and South American car landscape. After partnering with Chrysler, Fiat introduced the new 500 to the States. After a relatively successful launch in spite of a less-than-successful initial ad campaign, the brand will start bringing more models stateside as well as sell Chrysler products overseas with Fiat badging.

Though Fiat currently offers just one model in the United States, the new 500 is available in coupe or convertible bodies, with standard or sporty Abarth trims. An electric model has just been announced and should prove popular with city drivers. A larger version of the 500 will also see release soon, though the two cars will only share a name. The 500L has four door,s and entirely different styling inside and out.
