Fleeing Motorcyclist Should’ve Dressed For The Slide

Running from cops, especially in a state like Arkansas, is just a dumb idea. After all, you might start by fleeing from local law enforcement, like this guy did, only to have Arkansas State Police jump in the mix. If you’re not dressed for the slide instead of the ride, you might be nursing some painful wounds afterward.

Watch another motorcyclist try getting away from Arkansas State Police.

Instead, this guy is wearing a T-shirt and jeans, not exactly body armor or even a leather jacket, and of course no helmet. We know a lot of riders think gearing up like that doesn’t look cool and in fact think it makes one appear to be a dork. But sitting in a hospital with painful road rash or worse is a horrible fate.

That’s especially true when you go high speeds on two-lane highways at night and try ditching the fuzz. While the guy is able to give the White County Sheriff’s Department a run for their money, once an Arkansas trooper heard the radio chatter and elected to join the pursuit, things took a turn.

You can watch the trooper’s dashcam footage we’ve included to see this entire chase. Speeds reach upwards of almost 100 mph on the twisting, winding two-lane highway in the middle of nowhere. To ride like that you need to have some skill and a whole lot of ice in your veins, combined with a bit of stupidity.

Even though at one point the trooper’s push bar comes into contact with the bike’s rear tire, something the trooper in his report says was accidental, our suspect doesn’t just pull over and stop while he’s ahead.

Finally, the trooper has had enough of the antics and he gets even with the suspect, then starts slowly pulling to the right. The idea was to force the guy to slow and stop. Instead, the rider decides going onto the shoulder is a wise idea, putting him in soft grass at a good speed.

As he tries getting back onto the pavement, he loses control and hits the wrap-around section of the push bar on the cruiser, causing him to wreck out on the blacktop. That couldn’t have felt good at all.

Maybe next time he runs from the cops he’ll wear better clothes?
