A 19-year-old has been arrested after allegedly stealing a Ferrari 488 Spyder and leading police on a high-speed chase in northeast Florida. This is the sort of thing you see in movies, but this kid decided to play it out in real life, learning there are consequences for those actions.
Watch a dad in Arkansas hold up the repo man.
What’s crazy is the Ferrari wasn’t stolen in Florida but instead was taken during an armed home invasion robbery in Rhode Island. St. Johns County deputies spotted the 488 Spyder traveling on Interstate 95 and started chasing it after trying to perform a traffic stop.
That’s when they called Flagler County Sheriff’s Office to get help as the pursuit headed toward that area. However, deputies from both counties failed to keep up with the Ferrari as the driver pushed it to well above 100 mph.
Thanks to license plate readers and a sheriff’s helicopter in the sky, authorities knew the general area where the Ferrari 488 Spyder had fled to after ditching deputies. That area was flooded with deputies and one noticed a distinct shape under a cover in a house’s backyard.
After all, it’s pretty hard to hide an exotic sports car, even when you drape something over the top. We’re not dealing with criminal geniuses here since they did leave the biggest piece of evidence out in plain sight.
Now Johnathan Costa, who is believed to have been driving the Ferrari, was arrested and hit with felony charges. So he had a little fun but he’s now facing charges from the other county and Rhode Island, meaning he could be spending a lot of time behind bars.
