Ford Confirms the Mustang GTD Cranks Out 815 HP
The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD was hinted to have over 800 hp in early reports, but Ford finally revealed official figures.
The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD’s 815 hp 5.2-liter supercharged V8 can rocket this Mustang to over 200 mph.
Ford says that the 2025 Mustang GTD is the most powerful production Mustang in the nameplate’s history.
As the Ford Mustang GTD approaches its first deliveries, the company is finalizing some of its details and particulars. While Ford promised the Mustang GTD would send over 800 hp to the rear wheels, the company didn’t have final power figures.
Now Ford says that the ’25 Mustang GTD is officially the most powerful production Mustang in the nameplate’s history, with 815 hp.
The heart of this wild Mustang is its 5.2-liter supercharged V8. This potent powertrain might only rev to 7,650 (which is down on the similarly displaced Ford Mustang Shelby GT350), but that slower engine speed doesn’t seem to dampen power. Alongside the official horsepower figure, Ford also confirmed this supercharged 5.2-liter V8’s torque figure: 664 lb-ft.
Helping you keep this 5.2-liter V8 alive during cornering, Ford also stuffed a dry-sump oiling system into the Mustang GTD. Considering that the Mustang GTD’s home should be on a racetrack, it makes sense that Ford is shipping this with a dry-sump system from the factory.
Of course, here’s the bad news: Unless you already are in line to buy one, you’re probably going to have to wait until Ford re-opens the order book. That, or wait until one of these wild Mustangs makes their way to the used car lot or high-end auction house.
