The Ford Focus RS Is the Ultimate Family Sports Car

From Road & Track

The Ford Focus RS is a pretty hardcore car. It has aggressive looks, a loud crackly exhaust, and enough bolstering to squeeze your insides out. But, as Mr. Regular points out in the latest Regular Car Review, for someone with a family, it's the perfect performance car.

American buyers have been waiting forever for a Focus RS. We sat on the sidelines as European buyers enjoyed generations of hardcore RS-badged hot hatches. No longer, though, because Ford decided to bring the latest version of the Focus RS to our shores.

Equipped with a 350-horsepower, 350 lb.-ft. four cylinder turbo motor from the Ecoboost Mustang, it can rocket to 60 in 4.6 seconds, making it one of the quickest hatchbacks around.

It's plenty practical too, with five seats and a nice big storage space in the back for all of your family needs. Sure, it doesn't have a spare tire, and comes with Pilot Super Sport performance tires from the factory, but for a car with this much performance, its family car capabilities are hard to argue with.

As Mr. Regular points out, the Focus RS is the perfect compromise for driving the affordable performance car of your dreams while also making your family happy. It's not quite the Shelby GT350 you've always wanted, but it's definitely just as cool.
