  • Ford is recalling 4,595 2024 Mustangs over a possible casting defect in the rear suspension knuckles that could crack and fail.

  • Ford says these cars were built between July 25, 2023, and September 15, 2023.

  • Dealers will inspect rear suspension knuckles for cracks and replace them as necessary.

If you own a 2024 Ford Mustang, you might want to schedule a trip to the dealer. Ford says cars built from July 25, 2023, to September 15, 2023, could have a casting defect in the rear suspension knuckles and is recalling nearly 5,000 examples.

If you own one of the cars built during this production period, you’ll be able to take your Mustang to your local Ford dealer and have the rear suspension knuckles inspected.

The technician will inspect the components and replace suspected problem units free of charge. Those replacements, according to the recall report, will be free of any casting defects, too.

A failing rear suspension knuckle could cause excessive toe in or toe out during braking or accelerating, a decrease in lateral stiffness, and a change in directional control. A catastrophic failure could also result in an inoperable vehicle or possibly cause a collision.

If you suspect your Mustang is one of these affected vehicles, you should be getting mail confirming as much from Ford after August 26. If you want to know before that, you can always use Ford’s recall tool, here, or the NHTSA recall tool, here.

If you don’t want to use either of those, you can reach out to Ford’s customer service hotline at 1-866-436-7332, and reference the recall number 24S49.
