The Ford Taurus is a full-size sedan that perhaps tries to be sportier than it needs to be. The Taurus lineup is broken down into SE, SEL, Limited, and SHO models. Its strength is in its content, as a tech-laden cabin and multicontour front seats with Active Motion (Ford-speak for massaging seats) will bear witness. Other technologies include a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled leather seats, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a powered back window sunshade, MyFord Touch with Sync, and more. Available safety suites consist of adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitoring system, and collision warning alert. The standard engine is a 288-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6, but an optional 240-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 pushes the Taurus to 32 highway mpg on the EPA test cycle. Part of that number can be attributed to the car's Active Grille Shutters that close at higher speeds to reduce aerodynamic drag. The big-dog Taurus is the SHO performance model powered by a 365-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 spinning an all-wheel-drive system. Further enhancing the fast four-door is an optional SHO Performance Package, which fits 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with summer tires, a beefier cooling system, high-friction brake pads, revised steering, retuned stability control, and a gearing change. Reviews and Ratings
Overall
Pros Cons
Exterior styling & interior styling & comfort Head rest on passenger seat is difficult to see around
Ford synch - it is an excellent system Projector head lights, bordering on dangerous at night. blind spots on sides
Sound system: sony with 12 speakers Adjusting to a 6 speed transmission from a cvt.
Electronics : computer permits a lot of options Would like more open room in center front console
Handles excellent - cornering, brakes, crusing Leather seat quality; not equivalent to volvos or jaguars
Exterior body fit & finish - good appearance Minor road bump noise carried to interior due to low profile tires
Roomy comfort of interior; cargo area Entry to vehicle is tough for tall passengers
Handling - car handles very well Doesn't ride as nice as grand marquis
Interior - love the combination of technology & functionality Rims/wheels: improve them to enhance the look even more
Gas tank entry without cover / cap I don't care for the cup holder in the door
