Fuel Economy and Driving Range
Fuel Economy Rating:
Shuttling around the Range Rover's hefty mass requires a lot of fuel, and the V-8 and gasoline V-6 engines are far from efficient, although buyers shopping in this segment will find that's a common theme among the Landie's rivals. The optional diesel V-6 is a rare exception that delivered 27 mpg in our real-world testing.
What's New for 2018?
The SV Autobiography’s power increase has resulted in a reduction in that model’s EPA fuel economy ratings for 2018; both city and combined estimates reduce by 1 mpg to 13 and 15 respectively. The rest of the lineup sees no changes in ratings from the EPA. We expect the Range Rover Supercharged’s performance in our fuel-economy testing would also be the same as last year's model.

We’ve devised our own fuel-economy test in an attempt to replicate how most people drive on the highway. Our procedure entails a 200-mile out-and-back loop on Michigan’s I-94 highway. We maintain a GPS-verified 75 mph and use the cruise control as much as possible to mimic the way many drivers behave during long trips.
