  • The No. 1 and 42 teams will still be permitted to race at Homestead.

NASCAR has suspended and fined team owner Chip Ganassi for a COVID-19 protocol violation over the weekend at Daytona International Speedway.

Ganassi owns the No. 1 and No. 42 teams driven by Kurt Busch and Ross Chastain respectively, and violated Section 12.8.1.b of the rule book by bringing an unauthorized person into the infield restricted NASCAR bubble.

The sanctioning body has suspended Ganassi from attending the next race this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway and fined him $30,000.

Three Cup Series drivers have been sidelined from competition due to a positive virus test over the past calendar year -- Jimmie Johnson, Austin Dillon and Brendan Gaughan.
