Google's AI Wins Final Game of Go and Crushes Human Competition

The artificial intelligence program beat Lee Se-dol to end the series 4 to 1.

From Popular Mechanics

Google DeepMind's artificial intelligence program AlphaGo has beaten 18-time Go champion Lee Se-dol at the ancient Chinese game for the fourth and final time. It was a close game to close out the series, with AlphaGo "trying hard to claw it back" after making a "bad mistake" early in the game, as DeepMind founder Demis Hassabis described it in the post-game press conference.

Go is played on a 19 by 19 grid, and the extremely large number of possible moves has made it the ultimate challenge for artificial intelligence designers. Prior to AlphaGo, it was thought that an AI that could beat the world's best Go players would not be developed for another five or ten years.
