Gran Turismo Sport Delayed Until 2017

From Road & Track

One of the main things that separates Gran Turismo from all other video game series is creator Kazunori Yamauchi's intense perfectionism. His attention to detail brings us beautifully conceived games, but it also forces us to wait ages for them. Yamauchi's perfectionism has struck again with the latest entry in the series, Gran Turismo Sport.

Initially, Gran Turismo Sport was given a release date of November 15th, but Yamauchi announced Tuesday that the game will now be pushed back to 2017. While Sport isn't a full numbered entry in the Gran Turismo series, it's seems that it's still being held to Yamauchi's typical high standards.

"As we approach our planned release date in November, we realise we need more time to perfect GT Sport," said Yamauchi. "While we cannot confirm a new release date at this time, we are more committed than ever to making GT Sport the best Gran Turismo game to date."

Sport looks like it will take Gran Turismo in a new direction, with a greater focus on e-sports competitions and motorsports. Surely all parties involved in Sport's development will be disappointed that it won't arrive for the holiday season, but you can't rush perfection.
