Gran Turismo Sport Looks Absolutely Gorgeous

From Road & Track

In its 19 years of existence, there have only been six entries in the Gran Turismo series. Considering it's arguably the finest racing game ever created, a new Gran Turismo game is a huge deal, and that's exactly what we've got. Yes, Gran Turismo Sport, the seventh in the series will be released November 15th this year.

Gran Turismo officially previewed Sport Thursday, posting a trailer on its YouTube page and information on its website. It's the first Gran Turismo game for Playstation 4, and it was produced in partnership with the FIA. While the gorgeous graphics will be immediately familiar to any GT fan, the game seems like it'll be somewhat of a departure from the numbered series.

According to Evo, the game will feature 127 "super-premium" cars, 27 circuits and dirt tracks. There's an offline mode with tutorials and various races as you'd expect, in addition to an arcade mode. Online gaming is now called Sport and features FIA-approved championships, with a real life prize for the best gamer.

Based on the pictures provided, it seems as though Gran Turismo Sport will abandon the bevy of older cars ported from previous Gran Turismo games. It was always cool for GT to feature over 1000 cars, but not when the graphics quality varies wildly between them. We'll know for sure when we get our hands on a copy.

Details are somewhat slim otherwise, but we have a gameplay trailer to whet our appetites. It very much looks like Gran Turismo is back, and we're extremely excited.
