Great Googily Moogily, There's an Aston Martin Vulcan for Sale

From Road & Track

Aston Martin Vulcans are hard to come by: Only 24 of these track-only wackos were built, and you had to be personally invited by Aston in order to purchase one. Since it debuted last year, we've only ever seen one for sale in the U.S. But now another, extremely purple Vulcan is headed to auction.

This Vulcan is the 11th produced out of 24, and it will cross the block at Mecum's Monterey auction in August. The auction listing doesn't provide a reason why this Vulcan is already up for sale, or what sort of mileage it has (if any), but in any case, this is a rare opportunity for the very well-heeled. Considering the last Vulcan up for grabs was listed at $3.4 million, we'd expect a similar price for this purple one.

If you didn't already know, the Vulcan was developed in partnership with Aston's racing team for track use only, thought there is a company that will make it street legal. The Vulcan's 7.0-liter V12 sends its 820 naturally-aspirated horses to a six-speed Xtrac sequential gearbox, and it's got more carbon fiber than you'd ever need. The rest of the hardware–Cosworth ECU, Brembo brakes, Multimatic carbon fiber tub, etc.–is all real-deal race car stuff.

As great as all the go fast hardware is, our jaws really drop for the paint. It's purple. Oh so very purple. A purple so good, you wonder why all Aston Martins don't come from the factory in this shade.

Can't wait for Aston Martin and Red Bull's new hypercar? Pick up this purple dream machine in the interim.
