On his way out the door, Harrison Burton gets Wood Brothers Racing their long-awaited
100th win. Burton started second on the overtime restart next to Kyle Busch, who was attempting to win a race in his 20th consecutive season after an abysmal first half of 2024. Coming into the final corner, Burton would make the pass on Busch and defend to the checkered flag, where he pulled off the best farewell present possible of their 100th win.

Earlier this summer, it was announced that Burton was out of his Wood Brothers' No. 21 ride for 2025, with Josh Berry taking over as part of the Stewart-Haas Racing diaspora.

"I don't know; I cried the whole victory lap. Obviously, I got fired from this job, and I wanted to do everything for the Wood Brothers that I could do."

With his win, Burton catapults into the playoffs, leaving just three spots for non-winners heading into the final regular season race at Darlington.

Ironically, the final restart that set Burton on the front row was set when the No. 4 of Berry, Burton's 2025 replacement, was turned and flipped at the front of the field. A red flag was issued after Berry slid on his roof and slammed into the interior wall.

Berry was reportedly okay after the accident and told NBC that it looked a lot worse than he believed it was.

"I'm good. It probably wasn't as bad as it looked," Berry told Parker Klingerman of NBC. "But man, I'm bummed because we had a helluva night going. We were in position. I'm really proud of the job I did tonight. I'm really proud of the job that the team did tonight because we were in contention. That could've been our day. I want to thank everyone at Stewart-Haas."

Burton spent his victory lap in tears as the relief of his hard-fought battles in the Cup Series finally amounted to a race win on the sport's largest stage. In his first appearance as a full-time NASCAR commentator, Leigh Diffey called the win next to a shell-shocked Jeff Burton. The elder Burton watched as his son followed his footsteps as a cup series winner.

When Jeff dialed into the No. 21 to congrats his boy, Harrison's response was simply "Holy shit, we did it!"

The Wood Brothers have been chasing their 100th win since 2017 when current Cup Champion and Penske driver Ryan Blaney delivered them their 99th with his first Cup Series win at Pocono.
