As so many cool cars from the 1980s climb in value, it's nice to see something that isn't too expensive yet. No, this 1983 Prelude isn't the most special thing-it's not even an Si-but it's very clean, and it looks like it could be a ton of fun. And, hey, it's on eBay with an asking price of just $5000.

Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.

The second-generation Honda Prelude came to the US with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder offering a little over 100 hp and a five-speed manual transmission. That might not sound like a lot of horsepower, but don't forget, cars of this era were a lot lighter than those of today. This Prelude weighs around 2200 lbs. A hundred horses is plenty.

It was a cool engine, too. According to the video above from the Honda Museum, it was developed specifically for this car, with three-valve cylinder heads (uncommon at the time), and Honda's ingenious CVCC system. So don't think that because it has two carburetors, it's low-tech.

The seller claims this car has only had one owner since new, and it shows just 127,000 miles. According to old-Honda widsom, that's barely broken in. It looks totally original, too, down to the blue velour interior and optional alloy wheels. Some of the interior fabrics look like they could use a freshening, but otherwise, the car looks amazingly clean. Check out the pictures of its rust-free underside.

And when $5000 doesn't even get you a nice E30 BMW anymore, this car starts to look very tempting. Perhaps not the most spectacular car of the 1980s, and hell, not even the best Honda of the era, but damn cool in its own right.
