HondaJet Crashes Into Car In Freak Accident

Despite what some might want to believe, plane crashes aren’t all that common, so when a HondaJet crashes into a car on an Arizona road, it’s a big deal. The chances of that happening are so slim, yet that won’t console the loved ones of the give people who were killed in what appears to be a freak accident.

Teens steal keys from an unlocked car, return to try getting inside the house.

What’s even stranger about this crash was the Honda HA-420 never left the ground. Instead, as it sped down the runway at Falcon Field Airport in Mesa, the pilot decided to abort takeoff. But the HondaJet just kept going, crashing through a fence, entering a road, and hitting a car, reports CNN.

Footage of the aftermath taken by local news station 12 News shows the airplane engulfed in flames as firefighters work to smother them. The vehicle, which we couldn’t even begin to identify the make and model, looks flattened and also is on fire.

Four out of the five people who were aboard the jet were killed in the crash, including a 12-year-old boy. The driver of the car hit by the airplane was also killed. It’s not clear if the survivor was the pilot or one of the passengers.

One witness said not only did the HondaJet crash through the perimeter fence, it also smashed through “a few concrete walls.” We imagine those were in place to avoid a tragedy like this, so we wonder if a redesign of security features at the airport, and subsequently others, will be in the future.

For now, little information about the plane crash is know as the National Transportation Safety Board conducts an official investigation. Once the federal agency releases its findings, which could be some time from now, we’ll know more about what led up to the tragic accident.
