Jacked-Up Ram Drives Over Jeep, Nearly Hits People at 'Rednecks With Paychecks'
With a name like “Rednecks with Paychecks,” it’s no mystery that the off-road festival in the tiny town of Saint Jo, Texas is a wild one. Jacked-up SUVs and monster trucks with tires bigger than a Fiat 500 are common; a Barbie car downhill competition is a featured event; there's a fair amount of bare skin, and heaps of mud — around 1,200 acres of the stuff.
Last weekend, however, the festivities took a dark twist when an apparently pissed-off party-goer drove his giant truck over multiple vehicles, potentially putting the lives of several attendees in peril in the process.
A now-viral video posted by Instagram user @dalenejkackson shows the incident, kicking off to the sight of the driver of a highly lifted Ram pickup being taunted by a crowd, with at least one person throwing an object at him. The driver climbs into his vehicle, backs up quickly, then takes off, rolling over a Jeep and some sort of side-by-side and crushing them beneath the truck's tires before taking off.
Road & Track was able to reach the chief deputy from the Montague County Sheriff's office for comment; the deputy confirmed an arrest was made at the event, but no other details were made available at this time.
This is certainly not the first time this off-road rager has seen events take a turn for the worse. News reports of death at the festival have tragically been a regular occurrence in recent years, with causes ranging from from passengers being tossed out of the vehicle on a hill climb to fatal head injuries to drowning.
