Today, Jaguar launched its new E-Pace crossover in more ways than one. At its UK premiere, stunt driver Terry Grant did a 50-foot barrel roll in a production-spec E-Pace, setting a Guinness World Record in the process.

Specifically, Grant and Jaguar set the record for the "Furthest Barrel Roll in a Production Vehicle," since this is the only production car to attempt this feat. That's not meant to undermine this accomplishment, because it took months of planning, and some serious skill and commitment by Grant.

Landing the jump required Grant to accelerate for 525 feet, hitting the launch ramp at a precise speed. While in the air, Grant experienced 5.5Gs of force, and it looks like the landing was pretty harsh too. Naturally, this jump was computer-modeled before it was attempted in real life, and Grant's E-Pace was fitted with a roll-cage, a racing seat, and a harness. Safety first.

We expect that Grant and Jaguar will hold onto their Guinness record for a while, or at least until the UK automaker brings out a new SUV.
