A track-only masterpiece from Jim Click Racing, now available on Bring a Trailer.

This 2008 Ford Mustang FR500S, part of the prestigious Jim Click Racing collection, is a track-only marvel crafted by Ford Racing and Miller Motorsports for the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge spec racing series. Acquired new by Jim Click, this car was actively raced from 2008 to 2015 in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series and now shows just 3,400 miles on the odometer. Chassis #054 is striking in red with white stripes and sponsor decals, featuring an aerodynamics package, adjustable suspension, Brembo brakes, and a comprehensive roll cage. It’s equipped with a Ford Racing race seat, Sparco steering wheel, and an AiM digital display.

The FR500S is powered by a robust 4.6-liter V8 engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential. Recent maintenance in 2024 includes fluid changes and the replacement of the fuel tank and sending unit. This race car is offered on a bill of sale in Arizona.

The exterior of the FR500S is a visual treat, finished in a bold red with white stripes, racing numbers, and sponsor decals. Despite some scrapes, scuffs, and dents, it retains its aggressive track presence. The aerodynamics package, similar to the FR500C Grand-Am cars, includes a front splitter, rear wing, diffuser, and Lexan quarter and rear windows.

The suspension setup features two-way adjustable dampers with coil springs and an adjustable anti-roll bar up front, along with a live-axle, Panhard rod, and two-way adjustable dampers with coil-over springs in the rear. Additional equipment includes a Ford Performance front strut tower brace, front camber/caster plates, and rack-and-pinion steering. The rear sway bar has been removed for optimized track performance.

Braking is handled by four-piston Brembo calipers with 14″ slotted rotors in the front and slotted and cross-drilled rotors in the rear, sourced from the Shelby GT500. The ABS is factory-calibrated for track use. The car rides on 18″ Ford Racing wheels with BFGoodrich tires.

Inside, the cabin is race-ready with a roll cage built to SCCA, NASA, and Grand-Am specifications, featuring door bars, a single Ford Racing seat with head restraints, a six-point harness, a window net, and a fire suppression system. The cockpit also includes a master cutoff switch, a branded toggle switch panel, and an engine-start button. The Sparco steering wheel, although showing some wear, adds to the race car’s authenticity and frames an AiM MXL digital display.

The fuel-injected 4.6-liter V8 engine, dyno-tested and sealed by Roush Industries, produces 325 horsepower. It features a Ford Performance high-capacity racing radiator, aluminum degas bottle, 84mm cold air intake kit, Borla stainless steel long-tube exhaust headers, and an X-pipe. Maintenance between April and July 2024 included an oil and filter change, transmission fluid change, brake fluid flush, and replacement of the fuel pump sending unit and fuel tank.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a T6060 Tremec six-speed manual transmission, heavy-duty clutch, Ford Racing driveshaft loops, and a 3.73:1 Ford Performance/Torsen limited-slip differential.

Jim Click’s 2008 Ford Mustang FR500S is a rare opportunity to own a piece of racing history, blending Ford’s engineering prowess with track-proven performance. Now available on Bring a Trailer, this race car awaits its next chapter on the track.
